The purpose of this site is to encourage people to look at the world in a rational way that so that they can make better decisions for their lives and for the lives of those around them.
Too often we are assuming that we understand what is happening and that we are right - and then we act on it. Many people get upset and act in anger or reactivity. And then we end up wasting all of the potential of our own lives, often opposing others.
Most of us are well-meaning yet we end up doing things that do not not create good results and often cause harm to ourselves or others.
We are living in a time of irrationality and emotionalism. Indeed, Pogo nailed it: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."
The actual enemy is irrationality. It is destructive and/or wasteful. We cannot continue this way.
I hope this blog can provide an example of "critical thinking", or "smart thinking", where we are sure to find out the facts, to learn what is needed in order to understand, and then to think it out, reason it out and come to a thoughtful conclusion that is the best we can come up with.
And hopefully we will vanquish the enemy.
Now it turns out that much of what we need to discuss involves what is emotionally sensitive to some people, because it is an area of irrationality and feeling a threat from what others think.
But I hope that no one will react by doing the very problem that we need to avoid. People in their lower selves will hurl invectives at each other and attack those who think differently from them.
Well, we'll see.

If we can couple rationality and facts with nonviolent communication (real communication), then we can create solutions together, from actually doing something other than protesting or expecting someone else to fix it for us. Indeed, we are either part of the solution or we are part of the problem.
